Fault codes answered from the manufacturer's own manual.

Type the make, model and code, or say what it's doing. You get what the fault means, where to start, the readings you should see and how to put it right, with the manual page. Free during beta.

Built from manufacturers' manuals, with thousands of fault codes answered from them, and growing. For heating engineers in Ireland and the UK.

Daikin Altherma E7-00

Daikin Altherma: E7-00, outdoor fan motor fault

What it means

The fan doesn't start 15 to 30 seconds after the ON signal.

Likely causes
  1. Faulty outdoor unit fan motor
  2. Faulty inverter PCB
Where to start
  1. Check the rectifier is below 10 V DC first
  2. Check the fan motor, then the inverter PCB
Readings you should see
Rectifier, before you unplugbelow 10 V DC
Fan motor, each pair of pins25.93 to 28.67 Ω
Insulation, phase to bodyover 1000 MΩ

A real answer, shortened to fit.

What an answer looks like

A real answer for an Ideal Logic showing F2, shortened to fit.

Ideal Logic: F2, flame loss

Asked: “Ideal Logic Combi F2”
What it means

The boiler lights briefly, then loses the flame.

Likely causes
  1. Gas pressure below 18 mbar at the boiler inlet
  2. Detection electrode faulty or contaminated
  3. Condensate pipe blocked
  4. Flue blocked
  5. Spark generator fault

Plus 3 more in the answer.

Where to start
  1. Check the gas pressure at the boiler inlet (minimum 18 mbar)
  2. Inspect the detection electrode for continuity, condition and position
  3. Check the condensate pipe and flue for blockage
  4. Measure 215 V DC at the gas valve while the flame is on
Readings
TestYou should see
Gas valve unplugged, between the outside pins4 kΩ (±2)
Gas valve supply, flame on215 V DC
Gas pressure at the inletAbove 18 mbar

A meter reading over 150 V counts as correct, because the supply is rectified.

Putting it right
  1. Put right a low gas supply first
  2. Replace the detection electrode, spark generator or gas valve if proven faulty
  3. Check the wiring from the gas valve to the PCB, and replace the PCB only if the wiring is OK

Try your own: ask about the fault you're on.

  • Causes, then the checks to prove it

The likely causes and the checks that tell you which one it is, as the manual sets them out.

  • Readings with the figure and the page

Resistances, voltages and pressures from that appliance's manual, and how to take them. If the manual gives no figure, the answer says so rather than guess.

  • The right model, or it asks

When two appliances share a code, it asks which one you're on before it answers, so the figures are for the one in front of you.

  • The manual page itself

With a free account you see the manual page for the part right under the answer, where the page is on file.

Where the answers come from

The manufacturer's manuals

Answers are built from service and installation manuals, matched to the make, range and model you give. An answer from a manual shows the page it came from.

Nothing made up

If there's nothing on file for an appliance, it tells you so. It doesn't fill the gap with a figure from a similar boiler.

AI only as a backup

For a general question with nothing on file, signed-in engineers get an answer written by AI. It's clearly marked and shows what it was built from.

What it covers

Appliances

Gas boilers, oil boilers and burners, heat pumps, electric showers, shower pumps and ventilation.
